BOIL WATER ADVISORY EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY FOR NEWTOWN RESIDENTS

Due to high levels of bacterial growth in Carter’s Pond water source, our office has been notified that all residents of Newtown have been placed under a Boil water Advisory until further notice. Residents are advised to bring water that you might ingest to a rigorous boil for 1 minute. If you know people in the area who have no access so social media or are not set up under our voice messaging service, we ask that you please contact them to advise of the boil order. Water Shut Off/Bridge Closure – Newtown

Starting 8:30a.m. there will be a scheduled water shut down in Newtown on Monday, August 9th, 2021. Residents can expect water to be off all day. This will affect residents and businesses from the Newtown Post Office to Peter Halls House. This includes East Drive, Hunter’s Lane, Sea Lane & Church Lane. This shut down is necessary to make the water connection across the new bridge. In addition, the road where the bridge is located will be closed while work is being performed. Water Conservation Notice

With extended periods of dry weather, The Town of New-Wes-Valley would like to remind residents of the importance of the water conservation measures. While our water supply may seem endless the operators have noticed a decline in water levels. That coupled with the ongoing warm temperatures and lack of rain has caused this notice. As a result we are asking residents to conserve water to prevent further decline. Lawn and garden watering with automatic sprinklers can place high and unpredictable demand on the distribution system. Therefore, the use of sprinklers is restricted to the hours of 5:00 a.m. – 8:00

Main Water Line Flush

Main Water Line Flush – Starting June 7th. IMPORTANT PUBLIC NOTICE   The Town of New-Wes-Valley is advising all residents we will be doing a flush of our main water lines starting on June 07th.  There will be daily fluctuations in water pressure while this is being completed.   All residents are asked to please CONSERVE WATER.  Please DO NOT run washers, dishwashers, garden hoses, etc between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Once the water line flush is complete you may experience dirty and discoloured water for several days.  We are advising residents to flush their lines by running an outdoor water

Jack Hill Inducted Into NL Hockey Hall of Fame

Jack Hill is one of a handful of hockey players who can boast they won the prestigious Boyle Trophy and Herder Memorial Trophy championships. Hill came up through the Prince of Wales Collegiate ranks, beginning his intercollegiate hockey career at age 15 before making the jump to the Guards, with whom he played St. John’s junior and senior hockey in 1963-64 and 1964-65. A Wesleyville native, Hill won scoring titles and MVP awards in both leagues, and also helped the senior Blue and White to the Boyle Trophy championship.
