The Town of New-Wes-Valley and Central Health invites you to join us on October 3rd at 11:00am for a Mental Illness Awareness Gathering at the New-Wes-Valley Fire Hall. Robert Wiseman will be our guest speaker to explain what he is doing on a local level to bring awareness towards mental illness. We encourage you to come out and be a part of bringing awareness to mental illness in our community.
This event will be taking part during the Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) from October 1-7, 2018 and is an annual national public education campaign designed to help open the eyes of Canadians to the reality of mental illness. One of MIAW’s major initiatives is the Faces of Mental Illness campaign, a national outreach campaign featuring the stories of Canadians living in recovery from mental illness. Thousands of pieces of MIAW materials featuring the Faces are disseminated to hundreds of organizations across Canada in an effort to raise awareness and end the stigma associated with mental illness. As the event gets closer we will be posting some of these stories here.
