The Ol' Road Trail System

New-Wes-Valley boasts many unique landscape features such as our rocky shorelines, moderately flat land, and forest filled backcountry, but our most modest and hidden gem is what some may know best as “The Ol’ Road” or “Ol’ Bowater Road”.

For years and years (throughout the mid 1900’s) the road served as the community’s only way to get to other towns such as Indian Bay, Gambo and Gander but now, it serves as a recreational paradise for boaters, hunters, lodgers, hikers, snowmobilists, anglers, ATV users, and is home to some of the islands most profound wildlife.

Surrounded by ponds all shapes and sizes, the “Ol’ Road” hosts a highway of Ice Fishing havens and Cabins.  As the annual snowfall accumulates on this road, snowmobilists, lodgers, and fishers of all ages take full advantage of the trails.
